Description


The Master’s Degree in Sociology aims to deepen the training in Sociology by providing students complements of theoretical and practical insights. These new skills will allow students to consolidate the exercise of the Sociologist profession, ensuring an enabling specialization on research skills and the development of relevant qualifications to act in real contexts.

The syllabus focuses on the acquisition of relational, practical and theoretical skills, as a way to provide an understanding of the Sociology’s role in the context of changes that is taking place in contemporary societies, as well as in the field of methodologies, technical research and sociological intervention.

The course focuses on flexibility, on the scientific transversality and on the empowerment of the sociologist’ skills as an adequate response to the challenges and contemporary problems, especially those that arise from the economic and social changes of globalization

Access to higher education


This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Careers


This degree is especially target to prepare students for academic na research careers, work in public administration and organizations, as well as in private firms, especially in the area of human resourses, organziatioal communication and market studies.

Formal requirements


a) Have a degree in Sociology or related areas; .
b) Have a foreign academic degree, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies in Sociology or related areas, organized according to the principles of Bologna for member state;
c) Have a foreign degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree in sociology or related areas by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social Sciences;
d) Candidates that, not having a degree, submit an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social Sciences.
Entering= academic qualification 60% + Curriculum (education and scientific work) 20% + labour experience 20%.
