The graphic symbols of the University of Minho are based on the hyacinth, which can be found in its coat of arms. The hyacinth is a symbol of humility in scientific work. It is a flower made up of countless flowers, an image that refers to collective work.
From the interpretation of the hyacinth flower, the star as the University’s trademark was born. From its six-points, the star originated the different symbols that identify the University of Minho’s Schools and Institutes.
