Description


The students who finish the first year of the course having a positive evaluation in all the curricular units, shall be awarded, if required, a "Certificate of Advanced Studies in History". The second year offers the possibility of elaborating either a dissertation, a project or an internship report, conferring a masters degre, to which a special mention can be added, according to the following possibilities: Middle Ages, Early Modern Period, Modern Period History of Discoveries and Portugueses Expansion, Art History, Historical Demography and Theory and Methods.

This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Formal requirements


The following students may be admitted to the present study cycle:
- holders of a History under-graduation level or other under-graduation level in Social and Human Sciences;
- holders of a higher education level in a foreign university provided as part of the 1st cycle in History of other post-graduation in Social and Human Sciences in line with the Bologna model of an acceding State;
- holders of foreign higher education level recognised as meeting the aims of the History or any other Social and Human Sciences post-graduation degree by the Social Sciences Institute Scientific Council;
- holders of a school curriculum, either scientific or professional, that is recognised as attesting the necessary skills to conduct this study cycle by the Social Sciences Institute Scientific Council.
