Description


MAIN FOCUS: Cultural Heritage in its multiple components recognized by international institutions such as UNESCO, for example.
DOMAINS: The scientific areas involved in this Master in Cultural Heritage include, for example, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Economics, Cultural Marketing and Information Technology.
SKILLS: It is intended that each student develops knowledge in the areas of cultural heritage that interest them most and that they acquire skills that allow them to relate the type(s) of cultural heritage to be investigated with (1) development and promotion strategies that can add economic value and (2) with communication and interpretation strategies aimed at the general public or specific audiences.
CURRICULAR STRUCTURE/ORGANIZATION: In the 1st year, in each semester, there are two mandatory CU and two Optional CU (in each semester, three or four CU are available from among the range of choice that integrates the Study Plan and according to availability professors that derive from the Service Distributions of the Departments and Schools that collaborate in the teaching of this Master in Cultural Heritage); the successful completion of the 1st year of this Master's allows obtaining a Specialization Diploma in Cultural Heritage.
The 2nd year of the Master in Cultural Heritage is divided into two semesters during which each student develops their final master's work until they reach the result they have chosen: Internship Report, Project or Dissertation; During the two semesters of the 2nd year, the work of each student is supervised by an advisor(s) and conducted on an absolutely tutorial basis.
METHODS, ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES: In the 1st year of this Master's, the CU work on a face-to-face teaching basis; these activities are complemented by study visits, participation in scientific meetings and other training actions that seek to complement the acquisition of knowledge and skills by students.
In the 2nd year of this Master's, each student's work is supervised by an advisor(s) and conducted in an absolutely tutorial regime.

Key learning outcomes


It is intended that each student develops knowledge in the areas of cultural heritage that most interest them and that they acquire skills that allow them to relate the type(s) of cultural heritage to be investigated with (1) development and promotion strategies that may add economic value to it and (2) with communication and interpretation strategies aimed at the general public or specific audiences.
At the end of the 1st year of this course, each student should be able to outline a research project according to the structure proposed for applications for FCT PhD grants and, of course, with the proper academic apparatus and each student should even present your final work project to be developed in the 2nd year of the course.
It is intended that each student develops attitudes of questioning, critical thinking and reflection and that they develop an ethically correct academic and work posture.

Are admitted to candidacy:
- graduates in History, Archaeology, History of Art, Anthropology, Sociology, Geography and Tourism, as well as any other technical-scientific degree similar to those, obtained in Portugal and in the European Community;
- are also admitted to this master's students who have obtained a degree in other foreign countries, since this degree is recognized by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social Sciences;
- may also be admitted to this master holders of an academic, scientific or professional CV of recognized merit in the scientific area of this master course, since this is recognized by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social Sciences.
