Description
This MA in Media Arts aims to::
a) Provide post-graduate training in Media Arts, focused on the areas of sound, motion graphics, animation and digital video, digital media history and theory, transmedia digital production markets, audiovisual semiotics and analysis of reception and audience;
b) Provide adequate research and scientific production contexts in the areas integrating the emerging field of Media Arts: digital technologies, digital communication and digital art;
c) Provide students with knowledge and skills to produce sound, videographic and interactive artefacts, in their relations with space and the audience;
d) Contribute to the insertion of students in the national and international circuits of Media Art production, through a network of duly protocolled partners in the area;
e) Provide students, within the project learning and artistic exhibition context, with opportunities for real contact and interaction with Media Arts audiences;
f) Enhance the region's cultural and creative ecosystem, located on the crossroad between digital communication, formal artistic expressions and technology use for artistic output.
Key learning outcomes
1. To frame theoretically and historically the evolution of Media Arts;
2. Systematize critical and ethical thinking in technology for the arts;
3. Methodologically integrate technology into the various artistic and social practices;
4. Understand the role of digital communication in the relationship between art and technologies;
5. Design and plan applied projects in Media Arts that cut across art, digital technologies and communication in action;
6. Apply technical and production skills in the creation of Media Arts content, namely sound, videographic and interactive;
7. Develop and integrate production in real exhibition and performative contexts, providing interaction and feedback with audiences;
8. Evaluate and interpret the results of the developed production.
