Description


 

This master's program presents a consistent program in the areas of culture, media and society, with emphasis on the relationship between the media, politics and society, economic uses and potentials, artistic and imaginary production, conceptualization of digital art, the relationship between the internet, art and culture, the formation of individual and social identities and the intercultural relationship. The promotion of research in the areas of communication, art and culture is still an option that this teaching project, in a special way, privileges. Particular encouragement is given to the development of academic works and intervention projects in articulation with the organizations, associations and artistic and cultural institutions. The organization of events and collaborative activities between the academy and the local communities characterizes, in a special way, the training that this Master offers. Many of these activities are carried out under joint protocols and regular practices.

Key learning outcomes


1. To promote specific and transversal training regarding the modalities, features and complementarities characteristic of Communication, Art and Culture; 
2. To promote the learning of innovative ways of articulation between new information technologies and the creation and diffusion in the area of Communication, Art and Culture; 
3. To take advantage of articulating the scientific repertoire and methodological tools of Sociology, Information Systems and Communication at research and intervention level in the areas of Communication, Art and Culture; 
4. To stimulate the innovative and creative spirit in the students, in the sense of the appropriate use of the techniques / methodologies in diverse contexts of investigation or professional activity; 

 5. To address emerging research and professional needs, namely in the digital world, networking between organizations and businesses, the creative industries, tourism, leisure and the mediation between artists, institutions, media and audiences.

Access to higher education


This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas.

Careers


The Master in Communication, Art and Culture enables students to acquire and enhance knowledge / skills with application in various professional areas: cultural management, curatorship, cultural mediation, art criticism, communication of art and culture, museology, artistic production and cultural, programming, cultural and artistic animation, etc. It is also foreseen the possibility of scientific employability, with regard to research on themes articulated with the areas of culture and the arts.

Formal requirements


Those who fit the following conditions can apply for this course:
a) holders of a graduation in one of the following areas: Communication Sciences, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Artistic Studies or similar areas;
b) holders of a foreign academic graduation, conferred in the wake of a first graduation in the areas enounced in the previous point, organized according the principles of Bologne by a supporting State;
c) holders of a foreign academic graduation, recognized as satisfying the objectives of the graduation in the areas indicated above or similar ones considered by the Scientific Board of the Social Sciences Institute;
d) candidates who, being not graduate, present an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Board of the Social Sciences Institute as certifying the ability to the attendance of this study cyle.
